Mint Dream with 70% of oils - erred
Recipe Instructions
10 ozs olive oil - SUBSTITUTE with 10 0zs. Of Apricot Kernel oil or Grapeseed Oil (FORGOT TO ADD OLIVE OIL. Rrecalc after the fact.
8 ozs coconut oil – can use Palm Kernel Oil instead, but leave recipe as is, with Coconut oil.
4 ozs. Babassu oil
4 ozs castor oil
2 ozs. Avocado oil
3 ozs. Grapeseed oil
.71 oz. sodium lactate
1.5 ozs. EOs
The original recipe (where Olive oil should have been added) called for 4.2 ozs of lye – without the olive oil, I should’ve reduced the Lye to 3.5 ozs. Another variation resulted from the fact that I ran out of NAOH, so I did another experiment, I added 1 oz of KOH and and 3.2 of NAOH in a recipe that called for 4.2 ozs of NAOH (my original recipe with olive oil included).
So with the above snafus, the NAOH and KOH with the above oils calls for 3.63 ozs. Of dual lye. I had 4.2 ozs, which is .57 ozs of lye more than I should have had.
But take into account that the original recipe also called for more water - 11.5 but I used only 10.75 (experimentation). This recipe minus the olive oil calls for 8.74 ozs of water. So there's approximately .57 ozs of additional NAOH/KOH and 2 extra ozs. of water. Hmmm. Let's wait and see.
I think path forward could be to rebatch or just wait and see (measure ph in 4 weeks and take it from there).
