The Black Boar Bar: 100% Lard with Charcoal
Recipe Instructions
Cold process:
- Melt oils over double boiler and try to keep under 100F
- If using charcoal powder: add now and blend thoroughly
- Mix lye & water in separate container.
- Allow to cool
- At 110/120F incorporate lye water and oils together.
- Emulsify with stick blender and bring to trace.
- Add EO/FO
- watch out for seizing
- Transfer to a loaf mold using a silicone spatula
- Allow to cool completely before cutting (cut within 24 hours as 100% lard soap are notorious for hardening quickly)
