Recipe Instructions

Hot process:

  • Melt oils over double boiler and add pigment.
  • Reserve 40g of castor oil, and mix with mica.
  • Reserve 40g of castor oil, and mix with EO/FO.
  • Mix lye & water in separate container.
  • At 130/140F incorporate lye water and oils together.
  • Emulsify with stick blender and bring to trace.
  • With the double boiler at a low setting: allow the emulsified mixture to gel and saponify without going past 212F (past 212F and it will erupt/boil)
  • Once "vaseline" stage is reached: add sodium lactate and mix (the soap should loosen up and become more liquid)
  • Add the reserved EO/FO/castor oil mixture and mix
  • Finally: pour in the reserved castor oil/mica mixture and stir minimally to create streaks before pouring into mold
