Recipe Instructions
Additive Ingredients (800 grams of oils for 1.2 kg soap loaf mold)
- 16 g Sodium lactate 60% solution
- 3 g Golden brown cosmetic mica powder
- 3 g Aloe clay mask powder
- 6 g Patchouli (dark) e.o.
- 3.5 g Star anise e.o.
- 2.5 g Birch tar e.o.
- 1.5 g Cypress e.o.
- 0.5 g Clove leaf e.o.
- 8 g Citric acid
- Himalayan salt crystals (optional)
Method
Prepare lye
- measure distilled water, weigh sodium hydroxide
- add sodium hydroxide to distilled water and set aside in well ventilated area
Measure sodium lactate (16 g)
Measure citric acid (8 g)
- note: if using ensure extra 5 g sodium hydroxide is used in lye preparation
Prepare oils
- weigh & melt hard oils
- weigh liquid oils
- add liquid oils to melted hard oils
- add clay / mica to melted oils
- weigh essential oils (e.o.) for later use
When lye cools to 32 degrees centigrade
- add sodium lactate
Blend the batter
- add lye water to oil
- whizz to thin trace
- add essential oils
- add citric acid
- blend a little bit more
Pour, allow 24-36 hours before cutting
- liberally sprinkle salt crystals over top of freshly poured batter
- cut into 10 x 120 g bars (approx 25 mm width when using standard 800 g loaf mould)
Cure for 4-6 weeks
- or when bars weigh 100 g or have lost 16.66% of fresh cut weight
Soap's ready... get lathered!
